A domestic dispute on Lake Avenue in Lakeview led to the arrest of Anthony Hoberty, 44, of Lakeview, on Tuesday evening, after allegations of physical assault.
Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call just before 10:00 p.m. from the victim, who reported that Hoberty had punched her during an argument.
She stated that after returning home from a trip to the gas station, Hoberty became upset and began questioning her about where she had been and why it took so long.
The victim claimed Hoberty struck her multiple times with a closed fist and also used his belt to strike her several times.
The victim was in her vehicle at the time of the call and had locked the doors to separate herself from Hoberty.
When deputies arrived, the victim declined medical attention and did not have visible injuries, though she said she expected bruising to appear later.
Hoberty, who met deputies at the door, gave a similar account of the events but denied physically assaulting the victim.
He admitted to getting aggressive and yelling at her, citing concerns that she may have been using narcotics, but later acknowledged that his suspicions may have been wrong.
Hoberty denied putting his hands on the victim or striking her.
Deputies detained Hoberty, placing him in handcuffs and transporting him to the Logan County Jail.
Hoberty was arrested on a charge of Domestic Violence under Ohio Revised Code 2919.25A.
He was lodged in jail without incident.
