According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, a Bellefontaine man was arrested early Tuesday morning after making threatening phone calls and damaging property at a home on County Road 48.

The suspect, 27-year-old William Levering, of Bellefontaine, was charged with Aggravated Menacing and is facing potential Vandalism charges following the incident.

The disturbance began around 3:40 a.m. when Michelle Young, 24, of West Mansfield, received numerous calls and text messages from her ex-boyfriend, Levering.

According to Young, the messages were filled with threats directed at her new boyfriend.

Levering allegedly threatened to drive his car into the house and harm the boyfriend, even stating he would show up at his workplace and cause trouble.

Young reported feeling fearful for her safety and the safety of her children.

At approximately 5:10 a.m., she was awakened by the sound of a car squealing its tires outside her home.

Levering was seen in a red Ford Focus leaving the property at high speed, causing significant damage to the yard in the process.

Further investigation revealed threatening text messages from Levering, in which he reiterated his intentions to drive through the house and harm everyone inside.

Levering was found by deputies at his workplace, where he admitted to being at the residence earlier that morning.

He claimed he only intended to “peel out” in the driveway but accidentally drove onto the grass.

Despite his admission, Levering expressed regret for his actions, explaining that his emotions over his relationship with Young had driven him to make the threats.

Levering was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail, where he was booked on charges of Aggravated Menacing.
