Local law enforcement urging motorists to fasten seat belts

The National Click It or Ticket Campaign kicked off May 15th and will run through June 4th.

This campaign brings law enforcement agencies across the nation together to focus on seatbelt usage.

In 2022, Logan County had eight fatal crashes, four of which were unbelted.

There were twenty-eight serious injury crashes with almost half being unbelted.

The fines in Logan County for seatbelt violations are $121 for drivers and $111 for passengers.

Law Enforcement agencies across Logan County will be working extra hours to make the roadways safe for motorists traveling through the county.

Officers will also be focused on Aggressive Driving and Impaired Driving. We want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe holiday weekend.

so 1/2 of deaths were unbelted…and 28 serious crashes only 40% were unbelted…looks like you have a 50/50 chance with a seat belt or not…just another way for the road pirates to get money from us

the important statistic is injury rate per belted versus unbelted occupants. unbelted occupants are over represented in both injuries and deaths because though seat belt usage is 85-90%, the other 10-15% accounts for roughly half of both deaths and serious injuries.

true statement. in all my years as a
state trooper, i only took a seatbelt off a dead person 3 times. handled over 230 fatalities

yikes, uh no this one is not a control issue. not with traffic and the idiots now on the road in the millions. but you go ahead and maintain your freedom to die, or live with debilitating injuries and a lifetime of physical therapy. now that’s control.

having taken a tackle police driving course years ago i found how easy it is to end up in another part of your vehicle if you’re not wearing a seat belt. if you’re not in your seat you have now given up any control and possibility of preventing further destruction. wear the belt because you can’t pick your circumstances. that’s why they’re called accidents. vehicles aren’t like they were 50 years ago when they were heavier and more stable. our need to save fuel has eliminated that from ever being an option on cars. i’ll take my 50% with the seat belt.

of all the things in life people need to quit fighting this one. i’ve survived every accident i’ve had, 3 in 50 years, because of the belt, and with very minor injuries. just wear it and find something else to whine about.

why can’t the police end the illegal fireworks that happens every weekend in this town? sick of hearing, “what do you want us to do about it”? exact quote from law enforcement.
