Sunday evening, police responded to a disconnected 911 call on Eastern Avenue, leading to the arrest of Jason Meyers, 50, of Bellefontaine, for burglary and aggravated menacing.
Officers arrived to find Meyers on the porch, where he claimed ownership of the property and alleged that his wife’s daughter and her boyfriend owed him money and were on drugs.
Observing signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and the odor of alcoholic beverages, officers informed Meyers that he could not enter the home without permission.
While officers knocked on the door, Meyers yelled that he had a warrant.
A male resident opened the door and indicated that Meyers had kicked in their back door.
He expressed fear, stating that Meyers had screamed at them while slamming doors inside the home.
He went on to confirm that Meyers was not their landlord but rather married to the other victim’s mother.
After ensuring the safety of the occupants, officers confronted Meyers outside.
He denied breaking in, claiming he entered through the front door.
After gathering evidence and statements, officers placed Meyers under arrest for burglary.
He was transported to Logan County Jail and charged with one count of burglary and two counts of aggravated menacing for threatening to burn down the house with the victims inside.
