The Logan County Engineer’s Office has announced several upcoming road resurfacing projects beginning Friday, May 8, and continuing through May 19.
Contractors with the Shelly Company will be working on portions of County Roads 32 and 130 during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Roads will remain open to emergency vehicles and local traffic only, with no thru traffic permitted during construction.
Officials say drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible.
Motorists are also being reminded to slow down in work zones, especially near intersections and bridges where “butt joints” have been cut ahead of paving operations, creating bumps in the roadway.
Drivers are asked to reduce speeds to 15 miles per hour or less in those areas.
Flagging personnel will direct local and emergency traffic through the work zones during operations.
Temporary no-passing zones will remain unmarked until the fall, according to the engineer’s office.
Following chip seal application, drivers are encouraged to travel no faster than 20 miles per hour on the first day and no more than 30 miles per hour for at least seven days afterward to allow the resurfacing to properly cure.
