A Bellefontaine man is facing charges after deputies found him unconscious behind the wheel early Sunday morning.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called just before 6:00 a.m. to the area of County Road 25 on a report of a man slumped over the wheel of a green Dodge Challenger.
Upon arrival, deputies found the vehicle parked in the road near the railroad crossing with the driver unresponsive.
The man was still breathing but did not respond to repeated knocking on the windows or attempts to rouse him.
After about 15 minutes, the man regained consciousness.
Once awake, the driver, Travis Hower, 33, of Bellefontaine, appeared disoriented and had difficulty unlocking the vehicle.
Deputies reported smelling a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from inside the car.
Hower was instructed to exit the vehicle, showed several signs of intoxication, and refused field sobriety tests.
He was taken into custody and charged with physical control while under the influence.
Deputies noted the vehicle was in park with the keys inside.
Hower was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused a breath test.
His license was then suspended, he was issued a citation for physical control, and was given a court date.
Hower was then released to a sober driver.
