A 16-year-old Richwood girl is facing multiple charges after leading Bellefontaine police on a high-speed pursuit that ended in a rollover crash south of the city late Thursday night.

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, an officer was patrolling near Ludlow Road and Colton Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when a silver Chevrolet sedan was spotted with no rear lights illuminated.

As the officer turned around to investigate, the vehicle accelerated away at a high rate of speed.

Police attempted to stop the car by activating emergency lights, but the driver continued south on Ludlow Road, failing to stop at the intersection of Gunntown Road.

Officers say speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour during the pursuit.

Near the 3000 block of Ludlow Road, the driver lost control after leaving the roadway, overcorrecting, and rolling the vehicle several times before it came to rest upright in a ditch.

Police identified the driver as Chloe Parish.

Two juvenile passengers were also in the vehicle.

After the crash, Chloe and one passenger ran into a wooded area before returning after officers ordered them to stop.

The third passenger remained inside the vehicle until officers helped him out.

All three juveniles were taken to Mary Rutan Hospital for evaluation.

Police say Chloe complained of facial injuries.

During the investigation, officers learned Chloe does not have a valid Ohio driver’s license.

According to the report, she admitted accelerating after seeing the cruiser’s emergency lights and removed her seatbelt before the crash.

Chloe also told officers she intended to stop but continued driving after the passengers encouraged her to “go.”

Police say Chloe is facing charges including failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, reckless operation, driving without a valid driver’s license, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to control, marked lanes violations, and other traffic offenses related to the pursuit.

The Bellefontaine Police Department has referred the incident to both Logan County Children Services and Union County Children Services.
