Riverside School Board Given Five-Year Forecast

Riverside School District Treasurer Ronnie Fitchpatrick presented the State-mandated Five-Year Forecast to the School Board in Tuesday night’s monthly meeting. Like many other districts in the area, the district faces uncertainty over the future, mainly in its property valuations and potential changes to the funding received from Columbus.

Overall, Fitchpatrick said the district remains in solid financial condition. He said the forecast provides an educated guess into expected revenue and projected expenditures, based on historical data. While the future is uncertain, Fitchpatrick is confident that his projections are accurate. District Superintendent Dr. Scott Mann thanked Fitchpatrick for his work:

In other board action, Athletic Director Rod Yoder mentioned the fall sport athletes that were recently recognized by the Three Rivers Conference:

  • Girls Golf – Reaghan McDaniel – Medalist of the Year (35-0 in the conference); Zoie Armbruster, Kenna Johnson – Honorable Mention
  • Boys Golf – Jaxon Woods – Medalist of the Year; Hayden McCully – Honorable Mention
  • Volleyball – Jayden Hoffer – 2nd Team; Avery Perk, Aubree Huston – Honorable Mention
  • Football – Travis Brooks, Braylon Dunn, Jorden Dunham, Damien Smith – 1st Team; Tony Robinson, Aidden Manning – 2nd Team

Yoder also informed the board that the Lady Pirates Girls’ Basketball team opens the season this Saturday at Indian Lake while the Boys’ team opens their season on November 29 against Waynesfield-Goshen in the Botkins Tip-Off Tournament. The Junior High Girls’ team hosts Indian Lake this Saturday and the Boys’ team opens with Northridge on December 2. The Bowling team’s first match is on Monday, November 25 at Newton.

In her report, 7-12 Grade Principal Kelly Kauffman told the board that the 7th and 8th-grade trip to Washington D.C. went very well. Also, the National Honor Society inducted 15 students at the induction ceremony in October. Additionally, 43 veterans were honored at the annual Veteran’s Day breakfast.

Mark Zumberger gave an update from Ohio Hi-Point. He said the Sophomore Experience Days are coming up November 21 and 22. The program allows sophomores from area schools to visit Ohio Hi-Point and explore career offerings from the school. He also said that the application launch for 2025 is November 21.

Several supplemental employment spots were filled:

  • Jayden Burchett – Freshman Boys Basketball
  • Kylie Shoe – 7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach
  • Kristin Eaton – JV Softball Coach

The next Riverside School Board meeting will be held at 5:30 PM on December 17th, 2024 in the district library.
