According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a road rage incident that began Tuesday morning near U.S. 33 and Honda Parkway ended with a traffic stop in Bellefontaine and a menacing charge.

According to authorities, 24-year-old Thomas Stevens of Columbus was driving a red Toyota RAV4 westbound on U.S. 33 when he became involved in an altercation with 38-year-old Ben Simpson of Marysville, who was driving a white Jeep Wrangler.

Investigators say words were exchanged between the two drivers, and Stevens allegedly displayed a firearm during the encounter.

No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

A passenger in the Jeep called 911, prompting authorities to issue a BOLO, or Be On the Lookout alert, for the Toyota.

Logan County Sheriff’s deputies later located the vehicle on Sandusky Avenue in Bellefontaine and conducted a traffic stop.

Deputies detained Stevens while investigating the incident.

Simpson was issued a summons through Union County on a menacing charge.

The Bellefontaine Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office all assisted at the scene.
