The Rushsylvania Lions Club and Rushcreek Township Fire & EMS are hosting the annual 4th of July celebration Saturday in the village.
Festivities will start at noon with a parade that will start at the park and move through town before ending at the park. This year’s Grand Marshals are Bill & Deanna Robinson, longtime residents and supporters of the town.
The Lions Club tradition of serving chicken dinners will continue. For $12.00 you will get a 1/2 chicken, baked beans, apple sauce, and a choice of drink. This year the chicken is being prepared by Sweet Caroline’s. Proceeds from this dinner each year help out several Lions Club projects including scholarships for Benjamin Logan seniors. The chicken will be sold in the shelter house at the ballpark.
The United Methodist Church women will have desserts available including homemade pie.
The fire department is hosting several activities in the afternoon at the park.
A bounce, food vendors, craft booths, train rides, and more are scheduled.
At 6:00, the local band Outspoken will take the stage and perform until the fireworks show.
The fireworks will start at approximately 10:00 and is expected to run for about 20 minutes.
Fire Chief Duane Van Buskirk says if rain forces the fireworks to cancel they will do the show on Sunday night.
