The Russells Point Police Department is helping local kids wrap up the summer with a fun evening focused on safety, community, and building positive relationships with local law enforcement.
“Slide Into the School Year Safely” will be held Wednesday, August 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 433 State Route 708 in Russells Point.
The event is aimed at school-age children and will serve as a kind of end-of-summer party before kids head back to school. The evening will include water slides, safety tips, giveaways and other activities for kids and their families.
Officer Zak Beltz joined the Russells Point Police Department in December 2025 and has made it a priority to build a stronger relationship between local law enforcement and the village’s youth.
This event is part of Beltz’s community outreach efforts and gives kids a chance to meet officers in a relaxed and positive setting.
Beltz also talked about why he chose a career in law enforcement and why he has a soft spot for working with kids.
The department hopes the event will give local children a chance to have some fun, enjoy one last summer celebration, and see their local police officers as people they can trust and turn to when they need help.
