A West Mansfield man was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence after a two-vehicle crash on State Route 540 Monday evening that sent two people to the hospital.

The crash happened just after 6:00 p.m.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office crash report, deputies were dispatched to 7092 State Route 540 in reference to a reported crash.

While en route, dispatch advised that the drivers had begun arguing over who was at fault and requested EMS.

Investigators say Zane Robinson, 27, of West Mansfield, was driving a 2010 Dodge Avenger eastbound on State Route 540 when Teresa Bercot, 68, of Sidney, pulled onto the highway from a driveway in a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Robinson told deputies the van pulled out in front of him, causing him to lock his brakes.

Investigators determined Bercot had entered the westbound lane when Robinson crossed left of center and struck the driver’s side front of the van.

When deputies spoke with Robinson, they reported noticing several signs of impairment.

Robinson initially denied drinking before driving, but later told deputies he had consumed six Bud Lights around 2:00 a.m. that morning.

Deputies asked Robinson to perform standardized field sobriety tests, but he refused.

After being arrested, Robinson also refused a chemical test at the Logan County Jail.

Bercot suffered minor injuries and was transported by Tri-Valley EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.

A passenger in the van, Dorothy Oshiro, 76, of Bellefontaine, also suffered minor injuries and was transported by Perry Township EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Robinson was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) and driving left of center.

He was later released from the Logan County Jail to a sober driver.
