Former Bellefontaine Police Chief Brandon Standley spoke Monday at a meeting of the Rotary Club in Bellefontaine, focusing on practical ways to de-escalate conflict in both professional and everyday settings.

Standley shared how de-escalation isn’t just a law enforcement tool, but a communication skill that applies in a wide range of situations.

Standley added that the same mindset can carry over into daily life at home, in the office, at schools, and in the community, where simple changes in how people respond to one another can reduce conflict and improve understanding.

The Rotary Club hosts speakers on leadership and community topics as part of its weekly programming.
