Three people escaped with only minor injuries Saturday evening after a tree fell onto their vehicle at the intersection of County Road 5 and Township Road 191 near West Liberty.
According to the West Liberty Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a report of a tree on a vehicle with occupants trapped inside.
Responding agencies included the West Liberty Fire Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, and West Liberty Police Department.
When emergency crews arrived, they found all three occupants had already managed to free themselves from the vehicle.
All three were treated at the scene and transported for medical evaluation with minor injuries.
Firefighters worked to remove the tree from the vehicle and also cleared a second tree that had fallen across the roadway about 100 feet away.
Officials said the vehicle sustained extensive damage.
The tree crushed the roof down to the tops of the seats and pinned the car’s frame to the ground under its weight.
Despite the severe damage, all three occupants survived with only minor injuries, something fire officials described as fortunate given the condition of the vehicle.
More details are expected to be released soon.
