Saturday, a routine traffic stop on US Route 33 resulted in the arrest of John Kile, 30, of Barberton, after officers discovered he was driving with a suspended license and had an active warrant out for his arrest.

An officer noticed a gold Ford Fusion with extremely dark window tint and a cracked windshield.

After initiating the traffic stop near the 68 North overpass, the officer approached Kile, the male driver, and explained the reason for the stop.

The officer measured the window tint at 2%, significantly below the legal limit of 50%.

During the interaction, Kile admitted he did not have his driver’s license on him but provided his Social Security number.

He claimed the vehicle belonged to his sister and that he was returning home after picking up his son in Columbus.

Upon returning to the patrol car to check Kile’s information, the officer found that Kile’s license was suspended and that he had an active warrant issued by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.

Backup was requested, and another unit arrived to assist.

After asking Kile to exit the vehicle, the officer conducted a pat-down for weapons, to which Kile consented.

However, Kile denied permission for officers to search the vehicle.

A K9 unit was deployed, which alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, leading to a probable cause search of the vehicle.

Despite the alert, no illegal items were found.

Dispatch confirmed the outstanding warrant, and Kile was subsequently placed under arrest and handcuffed.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he was lodged on the warrant.

Additionally, Kile was issued a traffic citation for operating without a license.
