A 19-year-old Wapakoneta man was arrested early Saturday morning after police found him intoxicated on the porch of a Bellefontaine residence.

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers were dispatched to a home on Eastern Avenue at approximately 3:52 a.m. after receiving a report of an unknown male attempting to gain entry into the residence.

Officers located Jordan Gossard, 19, of Wapakoneta, on the back porch of the home. Police reported that Gossard appeared heavily intoxicated, was unsteady on his feet, and was not wearing shoes. Officers also noted wet spots on his clothing and learned he had reportedly fallen several times.

According to the report, Gossard appeared confused about his location, believing he was in Auglaize County and attempting to travel to Allen County. Officers also detected a strong odor of alcohol and reported that he had difficulty answering basic questions and completing simple tasks.

Police learned Gossard was under the legal drinking age and said he admitted to consuming alcohol. He was arrested and charged with underage alcohol consumption and public intoxication.

The homeowner told officers they did not wish to pursue any criminal charges related to the attempted entry into the residence.

During a search, officers located a nicotine vape device in Gossard’s pocket. The vape was seized and placed into evidence for destruction.

Gossard was transported to the Logan County Jail and lodged on the charges. The case will be forwarded to Bellefontaine Municipal Court.
