Bellefontaine Police responded to two injury-free crashes over the weekend.
The first happened Friday just after 12:30 p.m. on South Main Street near Washington Avenue. According to police, Nancy Wisse, 88, of Bellefontaine, was driving a 2022 GMC Acadia northbound when she failed to see traffic stopped ahead and rear-ended a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic driven by Mary Whitt, 40, of Bellefontaine.
No one was injured. Wisse was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
The second crash happened Sunday shortly after 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of West Sandusky Avenue and South Detroit Street.
Police say Haylee Yelton, 19, of Bellefontaine, was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry westbound on West Sandusky Avenue when she ran a red light and struck the rear of a 2020 GMC Sierra driven by Elisha Ellis, 36, of Bellefontaine, who was traveling south on Detroit Street.
No injuries were reported. Yelton was cited for a red light violation.
