A Bellefontaine man is facing OVI and other charges after police say he was driving the wrong way on a one-way street early Wednesday morning.
25-year-old Manuel De Jesus Ordonez Perez was arrested just before 1:00 AM after an officer saw him driving across the double yellow line on South Main Street in Bellefontaine.
Police say Ordonez Perez then made a wide turn onto West Chillicothe Avenue before turning south onto Ward Street, which is a one-way street for northbound traffic.
During the traffic stop, officers say they found several cans of Modelo beer inside the vehicle, including an open container in the cup holder.
Police say Ordonez Perez admitted to drinking three alcoholic beverages.
Officers also reported he showed several signs of intoxication when he failed field sobriety tests.
Ordonez Perez was taken to the Bellefontaine Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that registered .159, nearly two times the legal limit.
He was cited for 2 counts of OVI, no operator’s license, marked lanes, and traveling the wrong way on a one-way street.
Ordonez Perez was released to a sober driver and is scheduled to appear in Bellefontaine Municipal Court on October 5th at 9 a.m.
