A Lakeview woman is facing four charges after police say she crashed into a telephone pole Tuesday afternoon while her two children were in the vehicle.
According to the Russells Point Police Department, officers were called to the 200 block of West Main Street around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday for a possible injury crash.
Officers found a tan sedan partially blocking the westbound lane after it struck and snapped a telephone pole.
The driver, identified as Evelyn Borba, was with her two sons across the street.
The children were later checked by medics and treated for minor scrapes and bruises before leaving with their father.
Police say they smelled alcoholic beverages coming from Borba and the vehicle.
A search found an empty red alcoholic beverage in the center console.
Borba reportedly told officers she did not have a valid driver’s license, only an identification card.
She admitted drinking one Mike’s Hard Lemonade earlier in the day before picking up her children from school.
After picking up the children, Borba said she stopped at Taco Bell and was driving home while eating when she became distracted and hit the pole.
A portable breath test registered .115 BAC, nearly two times the legal.
Borba was arrested for OVI and is also charged with endangering children, non-compliance suspension, and failure to control.
