Charly Yuretich, 15, of Bellefontaine, is officially facing serious charges in connection with the death of 23-year-old Nathaniel G. Jones, who was killed on Christmas Eve in Bellefontaine.
According to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office, Friday, Yuretich was charged with murder, felonious assault, and firearm specifications following the fatal shooting.
The charges against Yuretich were filed in juvenile court due to his age.
However, the Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion to transfer the case to adult court, arguing that the severity of the crime warrants an adult trial.
Juvenile court hearings will be scheduled to determine whether Yuretich should be bound over to face adult charges.
The shooting occurred Tuesday morning in a Bellefontaine residence on North Detroit Street.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
If Yuretich’s case is moved to adult court, he would face more severe penalties if convicted.
Murder charges in adult court carry significantly harsher sentences than in juvenile court.
Yuretich will next appear in court on January 2, 2025, at 2 PM.
