The Indian Lake girls soccer team opened its 2026 season with a 2-1 road victory over Greenville on Saturday, putting together a strong all-around performance to start the year on a winning note.
The Lady Lakers came out with plenty of intensity and played with grit throughout all 80 minutes. Indian Lake’s offense set the tone early, consistently putting pressure on Greenville and creating opportunities in the attacking third.
That pressure paid off in the first half as the Lakers found the back of the net twice to take control of the match. Junior Brylee Roseburrough and junior Bre Wisener each scored for Indian Lake, giving the Lakers a 2-0 advantage heading into the second half.
Indian Lake’s offense was led by several veteran players and finished the match with 23 shots on goal. The Lakers continued to attack throughout the contest, creating chances while working to maintain their advantage.
Greenville was able to get on the scoreboard in the second half, cutting into Indian Lake’s lead and making for a competitive finish.
The Lakers’ defense, however, continued to work together to protect the lead. The backline of junior Diem Martin, senior Hailey Prater, freshman Mila Hawkins and sophomore Ally Hoffman provided a strong defensive presence and helped keep Greenville’s attack off balance.
Greenville finished with just seven shots on goal as Indian Lake’s defense limited the opportunities in front of the net. The Lakers held on through the final minutes to secure the 2-1 victory and begin the season with a win.
Indian Lake will look to keep the momentum going when the Lady Lakers return home Monday night to host Northwestern. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
