state_patrol_cruiser_on_8-08.jpgTwo local residents were injured in a crash near Middleburg yesterday afternoon.

The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that a car and an SUV crashed at the intersection of State Route 287 and County Road 144 just before three p.m.

Kevin Johnson, 20, of Belle Center, was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus eastbound on County Road 144 and Stephane Davis, 51, of West Liberty, was operating a 2005 Acura MDX westbound on State Route 287.

Troopers say the vehicles collided after Davis made a left turn in front of Johnson.

Injury accident near Fontaine Plaza Print E-mail

bellefontaine_fire_department_squad_on_12-07.jpgA local driver suffered minor injuries in a three-car accident in the city Tuesday afternoon.

The Bellefontaine Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of South Main Street and Allen Road around four p.m.

Officers report that a southbound Ford Mustang driven by Jonathan Clark, 22, of Bellefontaine, rear-ended a '94 Toyota Celica operated by Christopher Horne, 19, of Bellefontaine.

Horne's car then struck the rear of a '96 Honda Accord driven by Katherine Johnson, 56, of West Liberty.

Seven defendants were sentenced and two pled guilty before Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark O'Connor recently.

Allen Driscoll, 19, of Huntsville, was sentenced to fifteen months in prison for domestic violence.

William Trapp, 21, of Sidney, was sentenced to fifteen months in prison for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Bronson Manahan, 28, of DeGraff, was sentenced to six months in prison for burglary.

State Treasurer Richard Cordray made a stop at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center on Tuesday evening. 

Cordray took time from his campaign for attorney general to have dinner with fellow Democrats at the annual Logan County Fall Democratic Dinner.

Cordray's speech was centered on the troubled economy. (Audio interview included.)

Earthquake hits West Central Ohio Print E-mail

Michael Hansen of the Ohio Seismic Network says preliminary data show that the 2.9 magnitude quake hit between Botkins and Anna about 9:06 p.m.

Anna's administrator, Jon Hulsmeyer, says the quake lasted about five seconds and was accompanied by a loud boom. A sheriff's dispatcher says there were no reports of damage.
