The Logan County Grand Jury convened earlier this week and indicted several local residents on drug-related charges.

Danya Piersoll, 30, 428 Clark Avenue, Bellefontaine, was indicted on a second-degree felony count of possession of crack.

Bryant Burchett, 19, 259 North Sandusky Street, Rushsylvania, was indicted on a third-degree felony count of failure to comply and misdemeanor counts of possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

logan_county_fair_board_8-13-08.jpgIn an effort to make a decision on the fate of the Logan County Fair, Board President Keith Watson asked board members two questions:  "control costs or vacate?"

It was a full house Wednesday evening at the Logan County Fair Board meeting held at the Grange Building.

Junior Fair board members, various council members, concerned citizens and Logan County Commissioner Jack Reser were all on hand to hear the board's decision on how to handle the current financial crisis. (Audio interviews included.)

The Bellefontaine Police Department says Aarika Holmes was found in a house near downtown Wednesday afternoon.

The 17-year-old was reported missing after leaving her South Troy Road residence Monday.

Chief Kunze says Holmes was located inside a home in the 200 block of South Madriver Street.

He says leads from the community and extra work by officers helped find Holmes.

She was charged with one count of unruly and lodged in the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center.

Driver found guilty in crash that killed three Urbana University students PDF Print E-mail

ohio_state_patrol.gifAn Urbana man accused of causing a crash that killed three Chinese graduate students near Springfield was convicted Tuesday of three counts of vehicular homicide.

After 12 days of testimony, a Clark County Common Pleas Court jury deliberated for just longer than two hours before finding Jason Skaggs, 36, guilty. He also was convicted of two counts of aggravated vehicular assault. He faces up to 34 years in prison.

The Urbana University students were killed March 8th, 2007, when Skaggs' sport utility vehicle hit another SUV, went airborne and caused a nine-vehicle accident at a traffic light, according to the State Highway Patrol. The students had been returning to Urbana's campus from a shopping trip.

Five area residents sentenced, four others plea PDF Print E-mail

Five defendants were sentenced and four pled guilty before Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark O'Connor earlier this week.

Franklin Bailey, 48, of Russells Point, was sentenced to sixty days in the Logan County Jail, five years community control, and ordered to pay child support, attorney fees, and court costs for the charge of non-support of dependents.

David Young, 28, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to five years community control and ordered to pay attorney fees and court costs for failure to provide written address change as a sexual offender.
