Fire Chief J.P. Schulz
A Bellefontaine family lost their doghouse in a fire yesterday, but their large dog was not hurt.
The Bellefontaine Fire Department responded to the Scott and Valerie Elliott residence at 305 East Williams just after noon.
The fire destroyed the doghouse and damaged a nearby fence.
Firefighters say the family's mastiff is doing fine.
The fire was caused from a heat lamp in the doghouse.
The doghouse was worth about $200.

Jim Jordan
Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security has approved $85,405 in operations and safety grant funding for the Richland Township Fire Department in Logan County.
"This is outstanding news for Richland Township," Jordan said. "This funding will help the township's first responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives throughout their jurisdiction."
The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.

Chrysler is closing all its North American manufacturing plants for at least a month, the starkest move yet taken by U.S. automakers as they anxiously await word about government loans.
The shutdown comes as The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that Chrysler has restarted talks with General Motors about combining the two ailing automakers. GM has since denied the report.
Chrysler, GM and Ford have been taking dramatic steps as they struggle to survive the recession and U.S. sales have dipped to their slowest rate in 26 years. Chrysler and General Motors fear they might not have enough money to pay their bills in a matter of weeks.

Fifteen Ohioans claimed their shares of the $207 million Mega Millions jackpot Wednesday with one man dreaming of his first new vehicle, another planning to start a scholarship in his late son's name and a woman thinking about retirement.
Fourteen employees of the city of Piqua were joined by one relative of a city worker as they finalized their claim at the Dayton regional office of the Ohio Lottery.
"We played and played and played. It came through," said Richard Donnelly, 58.
The winners chose the cash option. After tax withholdings, 14 winners will each receive a check for approximately $6.3 million. Donnelly bought two shares of the winning ticket and will receive a check for approximately $12.6 million.
