The 21st annual Firecracker 5000 road race was held on July 4th in West Mansfield.

175 runners completed the 5-K course.

The race was put on by the Mill Creek Milers running club of the Mill Creek Church of Christ in Raymond.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the West Mansfield Conservation Club.

It was Harley Night at Shady Bowl Speedway Saturday and a large crowd was on hand to watch five feature races.

The Iron Man 40 for the sport stocks was the major race of the night.

Rookie Chuck Kemp paced the field for the first few circuits with pressure from several drivers. Kemp finally gave up the lead to Rodney Roush. Roush, from Sidney, then took over the point in his Roush and Sons Monte Carlo and led the rest of the event to take the win. Larry Adams was second, with Chris Abbott third, Aaron Pippin fourth and Rex Purtee fifth. Brian Brandyberry set fast time with a 14.94 lap.

Bellefontaine Powerbuilt edged Urbana 3-2 yesterday afternoon to advance to the Acme sectional championship game.

Powerbuilt was out hit 11-4, but won thanks to several big defensive plays.

Senior Zach Mosbarger tossed a complete game to earn the win.

T.J. Garman led the offense with a triple.

Josh Kauffman scored two runs.

Powerbuilt will play in the sectional title game tomorrow night at Blue Jacket Park.

Bellefontaine Powerbuilt run-ruled Graham Friday afternoon in the ACME Sectional Tournament 10-0.  Brock Mitchell tossed a complete game shutout for Bellefontaine.

In the days other game Urbana scored a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the seventh to edge Indian Lake 3-2.

Bellefontaine will now play Urbana Sunday afternoon at 3:30 in the winner's bracket while Indian Lake will wait until Monday in the loser's bracket to play the winner of Benjamin Logan and Graham.
