The West Liberty-Salem varsity boys golf team opened the season at the Marysville Invitational on Monday.
The Tigers finished 9th out of 11 teams.
Team results included:
1st Dublin Scioto 325
2nd Buckeye Valley 331
3rd Olentangy 338

Nine members of Gloria's Tumbling Team competed in the AAU Junior Olympics held in Detroit, Michigan July 30th through August 2nd. There were 12 states participating and about 500 competitors.
Ohio placed 2nd as a state in Double Mini and 3rd in Trampoline. Special awards were presented to Jennifer Colby and Madisyn Norris for their high scores in the prelims on the trampoline while Madisyn Norris and Kayli Gonterman received awards in Double Mini.

The 14th annual Run To Educate 5K conducted by the Logan County Education Foundation was held Friday in Bellefontaine.
A field of 165 runners and walkers participated in this year's event to support students and teachers in the four school districts in Logan County.
The top male finisher was Logan Leis and the top female finisher was Courtney Forsythe.

The Main Event Racing Series made its annual stop at Shady Bowl Speedway and put on a thrilling show in front of a packed house. The traveling speedsters marked the only appearance of the super late models in the '08 season. A field of 21 cars took the green flag to start the Carter Lumber 75. Series regular Gary Whipkey took the early lead in the Carter Lumber backed super and led the first 19 laps before the yellow came out when Rich Rohrer collected the frontchute wall.
Something appeared to break on his car. When racing resumed, it was short lived. Rain brought the race to a halt on lap 20.

Three West Liberty-Salem runners finished in the top four at the Lawnview Run, Walk, and Play 5K race at Urbana's Melvin Miller Park on Saturday.
WLS 8th grader Meghan Vogel placed first overall in the women's race with a time of 20:26.
Kelsie Markin finished 3rd with a 20:56 and Hillary Seely finished 4th in a time of 21:00. Markin and Seely are seniors at WLS.
