Concealed weapons permit holders can now keep a gun hidden in a car as long as they're carrying it in a secure holster, one of several changes to Ohio's conceal carry law that took effect Monday.
The law previously required the gun to be in plain sight.
Permit holders also may bring a gun onto school grounds as long as they are in a car picking up or dropping off a child.
Law enforcement officials say the changes are common sense.

The Bellefontaine Board of Education met Monday evening and swore in new board member Todd Heydinger, DDS. Heydinger took the board seat vacated by Ben Stahler.
BCS Superintendent Dr. Larry Anderson along with the rest of the board thanked Stahler for his 13 years of dedicated service to the school district, while welcoming Heydinger to the board seat. (Audio and video interviews included.)

West Liberty-Salem's JV golf team was "relaxed and focused, which produced a great round of golf," according to Coach, Darrin Leichty.
In Mondays action at Liberty Hills golf course against Waynesfield Goshen, the Tigers pulled a win, 158 to 223.

The boil water alert that was issued last Thursday in Bellefontaine has been lifted.
The boil advisory was lifted for several houses on Charles Avenue, Ohio Street, and North Drive.
The houses on Charles include 528, 600, 604, 608, 612, and 620.
The residences on Ohio Street are 900, 904, 908, 912, 916, 920, 925, 927, 928, and 929.
The homes on North Drive are 720 and 728.

The Logan County Community Improvement Corporation in conjunction with the Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the receipt of a $60,000 grant from the Economic Development and Land Planning grant cycle offered through the Logan County Sales tax committee.
According to CIC Director Natalie Comer, the dollars will be used to ultimately bring new industry and thus new jobs to Logan County. The CIC will contract with a consulting firm to assist in identifying Logan County's strength and weaknesses and determine greatest opportunities for new business and industry.
