Relay for Life a Big $uccess PDF Print E-mail

relay_for_life_08_walkers.jpgThe 10th Annual Relay for Life in Logan County wrapped up Saturday at noon at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.

The flatter track, intimate feel, and full kitchen on-site seemed to please the walkers and volunteers.

The local theme this year was "Through the Years" which complimented the national Relay for Life theme of "Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back." The co-chairpersons for the event were Penny Higgins and Marilyn Angelo. They said $156,000 was raised during the 18-hour event and more money will be collected throughout the weekend. Relay officials were confident they would surpass the goal of $158,000. (Audio interviews included.)

Finals included:

Acme

Benjamin Logan played at Urbana University and fell to Olentangy Liberty 11-7.

Trent Kuhn led the Raiders with two hits, including a double.

Dustin Craig recorded two hits.

Matt McKirahan, Donnie Stover, Logan Coleman, and Jacob Barns added hits.

The Raiders are 7-4.

Local road to close for LEPC Exercise PDF Print E-mail

The Logan County Engineer's Office announces that a portion of County Road 91 will be closed Saturday morning.

The Logan County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will be conducting an exercise at the end of the driveway to Logan Acres from eight a.m. until noon.

As a result, the engineer's office will be closing 91 between County Road 130 and Township Road 46 from nine a.m. until noon.

Residents west of the old Logan Acres building can enter and exit by going to Township Road 46.

Logan County elected officials learned about manure recycling, source water protection methods, grid sampling and an aesthetically pleasing floodwater drainage technique Thursday morning.

The education was part of the annual Logan Soil and Water Conservation District County Officials Tour, which made various stops in the southern portion of the county to highlight the district's conservation programs there. (Photographs and audio and video interviews included.)

Relay for Life Weekend PDF Print E-mail

The 10th Annual Relay for Life in Logan County is set to kick-off Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. This will mark the first time that the event is held at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center citing the flatter track, the intimate feel, and full kitchen on-site as reasons for moving to a different location.

In addition to all of the festivities that Relay for Life will bring to the county, there will be a number of road closures due to the 5K run taking place on Saturday. (Audio interview included.)
