WLS School Board moves to place levy on ballot PDF Print E-mail

The West Liberty-Salem Board of Education met in regular session Monday night.

One big item of discussion for board members was approving the five-year, 1.5 mill permanent improvement levy, which will appear on the November ballot.

The board stressed that this was not an additional tax being placed on citizens, but rather approving the same 11 cents per day community members are already being asked to pay. (Audio interview included.)

Powerbuilt rolls in to District title game, local youth team shines in weekend tourney PDF Print E-mail

ball_and_bat_photo_on_4-08.jpgBellefontaine Powerbuilt advanced to the Acme district final by beating Urbana 12-2 in five innings Saturday. Bellefontaine will now take on Springfield in the championship game Monday night at 6:00 at Blue Jacket Park.

Against Urbana, Josh Kauffman went the distance to get the win. He scattered 6 hits, struck out 5, and walked 2.

The Powerbuilt offense erupted for 15 hits. Kauffman led the attack by going 3 for 4 with a triple. Zach Mosbarger and Brock Mitchell went 3 for 4. Mark Duffy was 2 for 3 and Jace Mills added a double.

More than one hundred customers gather outside of Bob Evans around four-thirty this morning.
The new and improved Bob Evans Restaurant in Bellefontaine is now open.

The new store at 2100 South Main Street features a beautiful dining area and a much larger parking lot than the original store, which was torn down in late March.

Nite Mix host Ken Keller was live on 98.3 WPKO for the Grand Reopening early today. (Audio interview and pictures included.)

After a week of livestock shows and sales, modeling, baking, sewing and other competitions, the Logan County Fair officially closed its gates.

Managing Secretary Jackie Woods was pleased with how smoothly the week ran and with the beautiful weather that accompanied this year's fair week.

The 2008 Logan County Fair wrapped up Sunday night with the annual Demolition Derby.

Spectators watched from the Grandstand as drivers detroyed their vehicles all in an effort to take first place in the Feature heat.

The overall winner of the Demo Derby Feature heat was Ryan Place. Ryan was awarded $1,000 for being the last running car of the derby.
