At Tuesday night’s Bellefontaine City Council meeting, the first reading of an ordinance was approved to annex 46.376 acres of land into the city.
The property, located in Lake Township and owned by Levan Investments, is proposed to be zoned R-1 for single-family residential development once officially annexed.
Additionally, the city announced that a public hearing will be held to consider the annexation of another 146 acres near the intersection of County Road 11 and Township Road 216, near South View Park.
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, at 7:00 PM.

Hydrant flushing and inspections began Tuesday throughout the City of Bellefontaine and will continue throughout the summer.
Police Chief Chris Marlow reminded council that it’s time once again for the annual BPD K9 Unit Chicken BBQ.
This year’s event is set for Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Bellefontaine Police Department.
The event will feature multiple K9 teams from around the area and several live demonstrations.
Chicken dinner tickets are available for purchase through dispatch or from any BPD employee.
All proceeds directly benefit the Bellefontaine Police Department K9 Unit and K9 Pyro.
“These patrol dogs are an extremely important asset to our agency,” Chief Marlow said, “and this event helps ensure they continue to serve our community effectively.”
Fire Chief Brian Wilson reported that the department’s ladder truck was recently found to have a faulty EGR valve.
While the replacement is estimated at over $7,000, the repair will be fully covered under warranty.
The truck is scheduled to be sent to Columbus for service in the coming weeks.
Ben Vollrath, speaking on behalf of Logan County Economic Development, shared that he recently met with representatives from AGC.
The company, which currently employs 600 workers, expressed appreciation for the city’s efforts in expanding housing and living options.
AGC noted a high demand for local housing, as many of their employees are commuting significant distances to work.
Maddie Stotler from the Downtown Bellefontaine Partnership highlighted several upcoming community events.
Sidewalk sales will be taking place this weekend in downtown Bellefontaine.
She also reminded residents that Taste of Bellefontaine will be held on August 7th, and the Hot Summer Nights Cruise-In is set for August 9th.
