Bellefontaine Honors Veterans in Ceremony

Americans began observing November 11 as Armistice Day in 1919 to recognize the end of the Great War. Now, 105 years later, we continue the tradition by honoring all veterans present and past who served our nation in the Armed Services. In Bellefontaine, Mayor David Crissman talked of the valor these men and women display throughout the years.

To honor the more than 2700 veterans living in Logan County, Mayor Crissman joined other dignitaries in a ceremonial 21-gun salute and presentation in Bellefontaine. Active duty Marine and former resident of Bellefontaine, Gunnery Sergeant Corbin Messner is assigned to Recruiting Station Columbus and had this to say to all veterans.

Following the ceremony, the American Legion Post 173 in Bellefontaine offered a free lunch to veterans to thank them for their service.
