Officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department were on patrol early Saturday morning when they saw a vehicle dragging something metal underneath it while traveling near Spruce Avenue.

An officer caught up with the vehicle on South Main Street and saw it swerving, nearly hitting a curb and fire hydrant.

Initiating a traffic stop, the driver missed the driveway ramp going into the Fountaine Paza off Main Street and drove over the curb.

When officers approached the vehicle they could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from it.

The driver, Michael Bean-Breaston II, 30 of Bellefontaine, showed several signs of impairment.

Bean-Breaston was asked to step out of the vehicle and consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed.

He was placed under arrest and transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department where he refused to provide breath and urine samples.

Bean-Breaston was charged with two counts of OVI, driving under suspension, failure to reinstate, no safety belt, weaving, and driving an unsafe vehicle.

He was released to a sober driver.

Also early Saturday morning, officers saw a truck on West Chillicothe Avenue traveling at a high rate of speed.

The truck then ran several stop signs, turned off all vehicle lights, and turned into a driveway.

Officers approached the vehicle and the driver exited it explaining that he was driving a “project truck” and that must explain why the lights weren’t working.

The driver, identified as Tyler Harvey, 23 of Bellefontaine, showed several signs of intoxication.

Arguing with the officer, and refusing to follow instructions, he was arrested and transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Once at the police department, Harvey refused to provide breath and urine samples.

He was charged with OVI, motor vehicle stop lights, headlights required, and obstructing official business.

He was released to a sober driver.

Around 2:30 Saturday morning officers were on West Chillicothe Avenue when they saw a white SUV going what seemed like to be over the speed limit.

Officers saw the vehicle travel onto the wrong side of the roadway.

They initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, Justin Fuerst, 33 of Huntsville, refused to make eye contact with officers and offered short answers to questions.

Officers could smell the odor of alcoholic drinks coming from Fuerst.

He was asked to step out of the vehicle and declined field sobriety tests.

Fuerst was placed under arrest and transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department where he refused a breath test.

Fuerst was charged with two counts of OVI and driving in marked lanes.

He was released to a sober driver.
