The Benjamin Logan High School Jazz Band recently performed at the 2025 Essentially Ellington Regional Jazz Festival, held at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

The Essentially Ellington program, created by Jazz at Lincoln Center, is an initiative that celebrates the music of Duke Ellington and other jazz legends.

The program encourages high school musicians to explore jazz’s rich history and artistry while providing them with the opportunity to perform, receive professional feedback, and participate in workshops led by esteemed jazz educators and musicians.

Under the direction of Myles Bowers, the Benjamin Logan Jazz Band delivered a performance that received high praise from adjudicators.

Four individual soloists were recognized for their performances:

  • Damon Johnson
  • Harry Stratton
  • Ethan Van Winkle
  • Greyson Wagoner

“We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and dedication,” said Myles Bowers. “This experience not only helped them grow as musicians but also deepened their appreciation for jazz and the legacy of great artists like Duke Ellington.”
