A Sidney man was arrested early Saturday morning after an altercation at a Lakeview campground.
According to a Logan County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies were called to Lake Drive around 12:30 a.m. for a fight involving several people.
Dispatchers reported hearing yelling and someone threatening to kill another person.
When deputies arrived, several people initially said everything was fine and declined to provide details about what had happened.
Deputies noticed one man, identified as Brandon Crumes, had an injury to his face.
Crumes initially said he had fallen and struck his face, denying that he had been involved in an altercation.
Another person at the scene told deputies that two men had been fighting.
During the investigation, a witness told deputies he had intervened because he was protecting a woman and would not allow a man to put his hands on her.
Deputies then spoke with the woman, who said Crumes had picked her up and thrown her to the ground.
She initially said she did not want to pursue charges.
Crumes said he had been hit in the face and lost a contact lens.
He continued to maintain that he had fallen, but later said someone rushed him and he was struck before falling to the ground.
Based on the investigation and statements from those involved, deputies determined there was probable cause to arrest Crumes.
Crumes was taken to the Logan County Jail, where he was lodged on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.
