Gilbert Arrested After Traffic Stop in Washington Township

Wednesday afternoon, Washington Township Police Officers were on patrol on State Route 235 near County Road 27 when they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Andrew Gilbert, 36, of Urbana, for multiple equipment violations.

Upon making contact with the occupants, Gilbert was asked to step out of the vehicle due to the driver of the vehicle consenting to a search of the vehicle.

As Gilbert stepped out of the vehicle, officers observed him throw a canister containing methamphetamine under the vehicle.

A search was conducted on the vehicle.

During the search, officers located multiple Ohio driver’s licenses and credit cards to different people in Gilbert’s belongings.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail where he was charged with tampering with evidence, possession of drugs, and identity fraud.
