A symbol of a controversial solar project came down this week as Dennis Schaub, owner of FastTrack Signs, was seen removing lettering from the former Grange Solar sign at 315 State Route 366.
The sign removal marks the end of Open Road Renewables in the area.
They had plans to develop the Grange Solar Grazing Center, a proposed large-scale solar farm that had stirred public debate throughout Logan County.
A few months ago, the company withdrew its application after the Ohio Power Siting Board staff recommended denial of its Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need.
The decision was met with relief and celebration by many local residents, who had expressed concerns over the project’s potential impact on farmland, aesthetics, and the rural character of the Indian Lake region.
Schaub, who owns several businesses in the area, including FastTrack Signs and Indian Lake Creations, commented on the moment: “Taking down the sign today felt like a small but powerful symbol of community voices being heard.”
The building previously housing Grange Solar will soon become “The Costume Shop”, which currently resides just a mile away.
