A new chapter for Bellefontaine’s Hoffman Pool officially began Thursday at noon with a groundbreaking ceremony.
Community members and local officials gathered this afternoon at 525 East Williams Avenue to mark the start of the project.

Pat Ellis, President of the Bellefontaine Parks Board, said that the day was bittersweet as the 58-year-old pool will officially be replaced.
The new Hoffman Pool is expected to provide an updated facility for the community, with a modern building and improved amenities.
A rendering of the new facility shows a contemporary design with indoor and outdoor areas.
The project is being led by the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District, with Marker, MSA Design, and several other companies involved in the project.
Today’s groundbreaking marks the beginning of construction on the long-awaited replacement for the existing Hoffman Pool.
