A Harrod woman is facing an operating a vehicle under the influence charge after crashing her car into a ditch Friday evening.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 6:30 p.m. to the intersection of State Route 235 North and Township Road 293 for a single-vehicle crash.
28-year-old Heidi Carl told investigators she had drunk two alcoholic beverages at a nearby bar about an hour before getting behind the wheel.
She said she took a curve too wide, causing her 2020 Nissan Sentra to leave the roadway and end up in a ditch.
Deputies reported noticing the odor of an alcoholic beverage, glossy eyes, and slurred speech while speaking with Carl.
She agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests, during which deputies observed multiple clues of impairment.
Carl was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs (OVI).
Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
At the Logan County Jail, Carl agreed to provide a breath sample.
According to the sheriff’s office, the test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.106, above Ohio’s legal limit of 0.08.
Deputies issued Carl an OVI citation, suspended her driver’s license under Ohio’s administrative license suspension law, and released her to a sober driver with a court date.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
