A homeless man was arrested late Monday night, after stabbing a tent during a dispute with fellow homeless individuals in Bellefontaine.

Bellefontaine Police were called to the area of North Elm Street and West Sandusky Avenue for a report of vandalism.

When officers arrived at the scene they spoke with two victims, a female and a male, who were living in tents under a bridge in the 300 block of West Sandusky Avenue.

The victims told officers that the suspect, Tommy Neeley, 61, at large, had become upset after being denied the use of a cell phone earlier in the evening.

The female victim explained that Neeley had asked to use her phone but she told him he couldn’t.

Later, he demanded to use the phone again, and when he was denied the second time, he stabbed the victim’s tent with a knife.

Neeley admitted to stabbing the tent and explained that he was angry over a missing pack of ramen noodles and the phone denial.

He was arrested for criminal damaging and transported to the Logan County Jail.
