A Logan County man has been sentenced to prison after pleading no contest to assault and domestic violence charges in a case that originally included attempted murder allegations.

43-year-old Dennis Riley pleaded no contest in May to one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and one count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

The court found him guilty of both charges.

The charges stemmed from separate incidents in 2025 and 2026, where Washington Township Police led the investigation.

Prosecutors had originally charged Riley with attempted murder, but the case was later resolved through a plea agreement.

The original indictment was dismissed as part of that agreement.

Monday afternoon in Logan County Common Pleas Court, Judge Kevin Braig sentenced Riley to 4 to 6 years in prison.

Riley was given 161 days of jail credit for time already served while awaiting the outcome of the case.

After completing his prison sentence, he will be subject to 18 months to 3 years of post-release control.

For now, Riley returned to the Logan County Jail, where he awaits prison transport.
