The Logan County Libraries is inviting the community to celebrate a major milestone this spring.
The library system will mark its 125th anniversary with a week-long celebration from May 4 through May 9, 2026, featuring special events, activities, and giveaways across all locations, along with featured programming at the Knowlton Library.
Organizers say the celebration is designed to honor the library’s long history while bringing the community together through fun, educational, and family-friendly events.
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy limited-edition library cards, crafts, and giveaways at all branches.
The schedule of events includes:
- Monday, May 4: An Edible Book Cake Contest from 10 a.m. to noon
- Tuesday, May 5: Live music from the Mad River Valley Dulcimer Society at 2:30 p.m., followed by a special presentation titled “Once Upon a Time, There Was No Library” at 6:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, May 6: A Library Birthday Story Time at 11 a.m., along with a reception and time capsule burial from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Thursday, May 7: Family Night featuring an Indiana Wild live animal show at 6 p.m.
Executive Director Beverly Arlequeeuw joined Listen Up! on 98.3 WPKO on Sunday morning:
Arlequeeuw says the anniversary is not just about looking back, but also celebrating the role libraries continue to play in education, connection, and lifelong learning in Logan County.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to take part in the festivities and help celebrate 125 years of service.
