Former Ohio Hi-Point/Indian Lake FFA Advisor and Agriculture Instructor, Tanner Schoen, was sentenced in a Logan County Courtroom in February.

Schoen is serving 48 months in prison, followed by five years post-release control.

He will be classified as a Tier III sex offender for life.

Schoen pleaded guilty in January to three counts of Sexual Battery.

The charges stem from incidents between August 2020 and May 2023. Schoen was initially indicted in July 2023, facing 10 counts of Sexual Battery and one count of Rape, involving one victim.

He had been investigated after school officials reported an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart emphasized the severe consequences of Schoen’s actions, calling it a major violation of trust.

On Monday, December 23rd, former Bellefontaine High School Band Director Jeremy Karg pleaded guilty to one count of Theft in Office, a fourth-degree felony.

The charges stem from an investigation into Karg taking funds from the school district over five years, specifically from band fees collected for the music program.

The theft was discovered in August 2023 when Karg failed to turn in a deposit of band funds, prompting a report to the Bellefontaine Police Department.

The total amount Karg is said to owe Bellefontaine City Schools is $35,000.

As part of the agreement, Karg paid $20,000 on December 3, 2024, with the remaining $15,000 to be deducted from his State Teachers Retirement Fund in monthly installments of $416.47.

He is scheduled for sentencing on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 9 AM, with Judge Kevin Braig presiding over the case.
