Champaign County Sheriff Matthew Melvin was in court Friday to face charges of one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
A pretrial hearing was set for 10 a.m. January 31st, and he was granted bond on his own recognizance, with a condition that he not drive.
Melvin was spotted by Urbana Police early Wednesday morning driving erratically.
Upon being stopped, the officer saw vomit on the side of Melvin’s vehicle.
Melvin smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.
He was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle While under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs (OVI).
