A woman, later identified as Dianna Aghdam, of Bellefontaine, was found dead in her car after it crashed into a pole on North Madriver Street and East Williams Avenue on Thursday evening, December 12th.
Bellefontaine Police responded to the scene after receiving reports that Aghdam, the driver, was unresponsive.
When officers arrived, they found Aghdam on the passenger side floorboard of her white Hyundai Veloster, with no pulse.
She was taken out of the vehicle by emergency responders and transported to an ambulance, where she was declared dead.
The crash caused serious damage to the car, which appeared to have hit several objects after leaving the road.
Tire marks showed the car went off the curb, hit a street sign, then a pedestrian crosswalk sign, and finally crashed into a tree before stopping.
The roads were slippery due to snow at the time.
An early autopsy showed that Aghdam died from a heart attack, which may have caused the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are waiting for more information, including a diagram of the crash and data from the car’s black box.
A family member was notified of Aghdam’s death and mentioned she had been dealing with heart problems recently.
