On Saturday afternoon, deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle accident on County Road 9 near Rushsylvania.
The driver, 24-year-old Onsai Tonise of Rushsylvania, was traveling northbound in a 2008 Ford Focus when he reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed into a railway grade crossing signal.
Tonise was evaluated for injuries at the scene by Rushcreek EMS, but he did not appear to suffer any major harm.
During the investigation, Tonise was unable to provide deputies with a telephone number or proof of insurance.
He was cited for failure to control the vehicle, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
Tonise is scheduled to appear in court on December 2nd to address the charges.
