Monday, Michelle Hamm, 45, of Rushsylvania, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street on North Madriver, near Irving Avenue in Bellefontaine.
According to Bellefontaine Police, Chad Woodruff, 52, of Urbana, told officers he was traveling southbound and had a green light when the collision happened.
He said he didn’t see Hamm in the crosswalk.
The Bellefontaine Fire Department arrived and treated Hamm, who was later flown to Grant Medical Center for further care.
According to surveillance footage, Hamm entered the crosswalk without pressing the button to change the traffic light.
The video also revealed that she crossed while the pedestrian signal was showing a solid hand, meaning it was not safe to cross.
No further details on Hamm’s condition have been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
