A Bellefontaine woman was arrested early Saturday morning after police say she drove home intoxicated from a downtown bar while her 10-year-old daughter was left alone at home.

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, an officer first spotted a maroon Honda Pilot shortly before 1:00 AM, making a wide turn onto Main Street and accelerating at a high rate of speed.

Radar showed the vehicle traveling between 34 and 36 miles per hour.

Just minutes later, police received a report from Wrock Bottom bar about an extremely intoxicated blonde female who had just left driving the same vehicle.

Officers later identified the driver as 33-year-old Tessa Kiser.

Police tracked the vehicle to Kiser’s residence on North Madriver Street, where officers found the SUV parked with a warm hood and an open can of Twisted Tea inside.

When officers made contact with Kiser, police said she appeared highly intoxicated, showing several signs of impairment.

Kiser initially denied driving before later admitting she had driven home.

She also refused field sobriety tests.

During the investigation, officers discovered Kiser’s 10-year-old daughter was home alone while Kiser had been out drinking.

The child later contacted her grandmother to pick her up from the residence.

Police said Kiser later submitted to a breath test at the police department, with results showing breath alcohol concentrations over .20 — more than twice Ohio’s legal limit.

Kiser was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and child endangering before being lodged in the Logan County Jail.

Police say the report will also be forwarded to Logan County Children’s Services for review.
