UPDATE: Shooting Leads to Juvenile Arrest

In a press release, Bellefontaine Police Chief Chris Marlow said:

On the morning of December 24th, 2024 at 10:22 a.m. dispatchers from the Bellefontaine Police Department received a “911” emergency call regarding a shooting that had occurred at 227 North Detroit Street.

Upon the arrival of officers, they found a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. That male would be transported to Mary Rutan Hospital where he would be pronounced deceased. The scene was secured at that time and detectives worked to determine what had occurred leading up to the death.

Through their investigation, they determined a person of interest and this individual, a juvenile male, was taken into custody. 15-year-old Charly Yuretich is being held on criminal charges related to the death of 23-year-old Nathaniel G. Jones.

The investigation into this matter continues and those with relevant information are asked to please contact the police department.

The Bellefontaine Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services as well as the Ohio Bureau of Investigation assisted at the scene.

Bellefontaine Police are currently handling a situation in the 200 block of North Detroit Street.

According to Police Chief Chris Marlow, authorities responded to a shooting just after 10 AM.

One male reportedly has passed away.

Officers and detectives remain at the scene and are asking the public to avoid the area as they continue their investigation.
