Late Christmas Eve, officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department were clocking speeds on US 33 when a vehicle passed going 88 MPH in the 70 MPH zone.

When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, they observed it swerving, and it took several moments for the driver to yield to authorities.

The driver, identified as Eddy Richardson, 18 of Lima, showed several signs of impairment when officers made contact with him.

He claimed he did not consume any alcohol, however he failed several field sobriety tests.

Richardson was handcuffed and transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department where he refused a breath test.
