Monday evening, Russells Point Mayor Robin Reames swore in the newest officer of the Russells Point Police Department in front of the village council. Kylie Eshelman joins officer Morgan Styles & Chief of Police Joe Freyhof.

The council continued on with other village business including hearing updates on insurance renewal, a log jam removal, and repairs to Elliott Road.

An unofficial update was given regarding the McDonald’s reopening, stating the current hold-up is due to a scheduling delay for the sprinkler system inspection.

Dianne Gauder, zoning officer for the village, said that FEMA is in the process of approving the future location for the Cobble Stone Hotel. Ms. Gauder said that organizers are busy jumping through all the hoops they need to, to be able to get the project off the ground.

“The process is just a waiting game, it’s all in the hands of FEMA,” said Ms. Gauder.

Organizers say the next step after the FEMA approval is public hearings, and once the village council gives the green light, construction will begin.

The Russells Point Village Council is set to meet again on Monday, December 19th at 7 p.m.
